Roarin' 20's New Years' Eve

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had the opportunity to go with David on one of his gigs. Last year, David played the New Years' Eve show at the Astor's Beechwood Mansion. He was invited back this year and also given a ticket for me! So, we made arrangements for a good friend to keep the kids overnight. This same sweet friend is a hairdresser and thought it would be fun to do my hair in the 20's style of finger waves and pin curls. So, we took the kids over and fed them and she did my hair and then David and I went to the Mansion. Every New Years' Eve, the "cast" at Astor's Beechwood Mansion, put on a Roarin' 20's Dance and Show. They pretend to be the Astor's and their distinguished guests, including "Cole Porter". They dance, sing, and the band plays, all 20's and early jazz. They have a fancy dinner and everyone dresses up in formal or 20's. There were "gangsters", "flappers" and tuxedos in white, black and pin striped! I got to sit and watch the show, enjoy the dinner, and hear David play! I made friends at my table and they thought I was something special, like my husband was a rock star or something! ;) There were servers all over with silver trays full of hors dourves and wine, the snacks were tasty and of course I had water! My dinner was filet mignon with fire roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes that looked like they belong on a pastry shelf, very fancy presentations of everything. Dessert was a scoop of ice cream, some yummy chocolate mousse and carmelized popcorn on top!!! The band played for a long time, then the show went for 1 1/2 hours and then the band played until midnight. Right before midnight, the servers came around with chilled champagne, and "fire" crackers. So, we counted down, the band played on, and I got to kiss the drummer at 12! We packed up after about 30 more minutes of playing and crazy people dancing. Since we were the last there, we got a private tour of part of the residence areas in the mansion. What an amazing place. Go to this LINK for more fun information on the mansion. We had a great time, and can't wait for next year! Following are a few before pictures.
