Cherry Blossom's & Chocolate Pocky's

Today, I finally saw some cherry blossoms near our house. I've been hearing all about the blossoms in Washington D.C. I know they were a gift from the Japanese. All the cherry blossoms here are pretty, but nothing compares to the cherry blossoms in Japan. When we lived there, it was one of my most favorite times of the year. It's nice and warm, and on the Navy base, there are cherry blossom trees everywhere. They line the streets all over the base, it's just gorgeous. Then when they start to fall off, it's like warm weather snow, it's amazing. I loved going out and about in Japan when the blossoms were in bloom. Everything in Japan seems so quiet and peaceful when the blossoms come out. And, it signals that it's time for the bazaar, too! Thousands of Asian trinkets, pictures, paintings, dishes and furniture. The Yokosuka bazaar was so much fun! I was cleaning my Japanese and Thai furniture today and remembering getting it at the bazaar. I really miss spring in Japan. What an amazing country and an experience I think of often and truly treasure. So, in honor of the cherry blossoms, and the fact that I found them at the commissary...I enjoyed one of my favorite Japanese treats...Chocolate Pocky sticks! Yummy!

The pictures above, #1: Chocolate Pocky's. Look HERE for treats we enjoyed while we were in Japan. #2: A view from this hiking trail and park around the corner from our house off base in the Japanese neighborhood. #3: A street in front of the Kurihama Flower World near Yokosuka. #4: The tree right outside my window at my house on the Navy Base...#14 L St.

I remember a treat similiar to that in India. They are really good. I love all the pictures of the cherry blossoms. I wish we could of visited you during that time, because I love all the sight, smells and just about everything that has to do with spring. It's too bad that here in Minnesota, spring is so late in coming..Sigh...but at least we get a little bit before the hottness of summer rolls in.
