We had a very relaxing, lazy Christmas this year. The kids did wake up early, about 5:00 am. I was up until almost 1 am, so I was blurry eyed, but we all had a great fun day.
We broke down and got the kids, I mean David, a Wii. It's been kind of fun to play together. Abby is a pro at bowling. We can't figure out how she throws that ball and then makes a strike every time. Jacob loves the racing games, and I like the bowling, too. Jackson gets a big kick out of boxing, but David has to help him so he can go faster. It's been pretty fun so far.
David is on leave and we are enjoying hanging out with him. Back to the usual in another week. I've been busy getting the Young Women's new year planned and everything organized (to my liking). I think this calling is going to be challenging, but I'm looking forward to getting to know these girls better.
One of our favorite presents every year is "grandma jammies". David's Mom makes homemade jammies for the kids and we just think they're the bomb! This year she outdid herself and also made Jackson a comforter for his bed. Now all three kids have handmade jammies and bed comforters. Grandma Ward rocks!!!!
Had to wonder this year about having the "Santa-Claus-isn't-real talk" with #1 child. He's starting to get it, but I'm not sure he's ready to keep the secret from the other ones. It really got me to thinking about ways to help my family treat Christmas with more awe for the celebration of Jesus than of Santa Claus. Maybe by next year I'll think of something.
I'm sad to see all the decorations get packed away, but I'm looking forward to getting on with this new year. My dad and step-mom are coming for a visit next week and we all couldn't be more excited. I am taking NINE Laurels to Washington, D.C. for a standards activity for two days at the end of January. Then...I graduate in February. So, lots to look forward to, even though I'm sad to see Christmas go so soon.
Hope all my friends and family had a very merry!
