New York City

I finally got our camera cords out of a box, so I am posting about our trip to New York City with the kids on our way to Norfolk.

We got to Staten Island Navy Lodge later in the day on Tuesday, so we just got a bite to eat and got to bed so we would be rested for our New York City outing. On Wednesday morning we got up early and headed over to the Staten Island Ferry. I can't believe how many people can fit on those little boats! The ferry took about 20 minutes and took us right by the Statue of Liberty. The kids were so excited to see her!

When we got to Battery Park, we braved the Subway. Of course the kids thought that was the coolest thing, especially our train expert, Jackson! Compared to the trains in Japan, the New York subway is dirty and loud, but we still had fun.

We got off the subway right in Time Square next to the Toys 'R' Us. So, we ventured in there...wow! There are 4 floors of toys, and a gigantic ferris wheel inside. We all had fun and everyone picked out one toy to buy.
I love this picture of Abby...sooo many choices!

Of course he got a train...Molly was his choice, a big yellow engine!
That Statue of Liberty and the base is made out of LEGOS!!

After the toy store, we hit the M&M's store and some other random shops along Times Square. The kids are in love with Night at the Museum movie, and were begging to see the Museum of Natural History. We weren't too sure about figuring out the Subway and asked someone and they said, oh, it's not far, only a little walk. Yeah...Times Square is around 34th Ave, and the Museum is on 79th!!!!!! WE WALKED THE WHOLE WAY!!! Jackson fell asleep in the stroller, and the other two walked the whole way! They did fantastic and only complained a little bit about how HOT it was. We went through a little bit of Central Park and then stopped for a popsicle!

After a long adventure inside the museum, we hopped on the subway back to Battery Park and got back on the ferry. One more look at Lady Liberty before heading back to our hotel.

Goodbye Manhattan! Thanks for the memories!
