David asked me today, "so what do you want for your birthday?", and I remembered, oh yeah, it's my birthday tomorrow.
August 13, 1975...I really did forget several times because of all the moving and motion we've had getting settled in Virginia. Getting set up in a new house, community, school, church ward, and Navy job, is quite tiring and sometimes frustrating.
Poor little Jackson doesn't know what the heck is going on. He's been getting very aggressive in the evenings, especially when he's so tired he can barely stand up. When we put the kids to bed, he screams, rolls around, kicks Abby and does anything he can to continue moving, but once he stops long enough, he's out cold. He's got one little drawer in the hotel with all his trains in it. He's always talking about his toys being packed. The kids haven't seen the inside of the house yet either and so they are getting restless and cranky about this one room hotel.
We have been trying to get things ready for the school year and David's new job...new uniforms for David ($400 later for digital camis), school physicals, school registration, school district waiver so they can go to a better school, closer to our house, housing leases, internet turned on, change of address, new ward and living out of suitcases for longer than I thought because we had to wait for our house for a week longer than anticipated.
Things will get done, I know, and it will all work out, but the interim is starting to wear on everyone, and...it's really hot here. It has been such a mild and even cold at times, summer in Newport, RI, so to come here where yesterday the heat index made it 101 degrees, we're all melting a bit!
With all of this going on, and the travel we just did, I forgot it was my birthday tomorrow. I forgot to get a cake, but I don't have an oven to bake anything anyway.
My birthday present will come on Monday when we get the keys to our new house! Can't wait.
Can't wait to post pictures, get my furniture, get our beds, decorate the house, get the rest of our clothes and get this new party started!

Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!!! I am sure the best present will be as you said, just getting settled. You guys are awesome, good luck with everything in the meantime, I hope it goes smoothly!
Sheila...I wish I was there to help...like in Japan. Wouldn't that be fun to move the same people around with you. For what it's worth, I hope you have a great b-day. I'm sending good birthday wishes your way lady.
Man, I'm a slacker. Sorry that I forgot your birthday, but here I am a couple weeks later, catching up on my e-mails, blogs, facebook. I know I'm pathetic for forgetting your b-day, but know that you are such an incredible person and I love you lots.
Sending 'late' b-day wishes your way. I hope it was great and that you're getting settled in your new habitation.
love ya,
Janus
