One of the coolest perks of Homeschooling is field trips. The Virginia Air and Space center in Hampton, VA has a special Homeschool day every fall. NASA makes a big appearance at the center on this day. This year, along with all the cool booths, movies and fun stuff, we got meet and listen to a real astronaut.
Susan Kilrain flew two missions to space in the late 90's. She was a Navy test pilot and also flew the spaceshuttle as co-pilot. She showed us video and pictures of her missions, answered questions from the kids and even took pictures! The kids thought it was so cool, and to be honest, so did the parents!!
We also saw an IMAX movie, had a picnic lunch and learned a lot about space, flight and weather. It was a fun day.
