After David graduated from the school of music, he wanted to take his leave time and go to Utah to get some time working out at the family farm. After the grueling (5am-7pm every day) 9 months of this school, he was ready for some good old hardy work, good old ruffage food at his mom's house and some relax time in Northern Utah.
We all decided to go, and flew out to Salt Lake City to spend 10 days in our beloved mountains. It was beautiful in the Wasatch mountains, snow capped and all. We weren't really ready for the snow and cold temps while we were there, but hanging around the fireplace and having warm home-cooked bread was pretty fun.
Grandpa, David and Jacob went out to the farm on one of the very cold days. I was worried about Jacob, it was his first time to get all farm-clothes dressed up and actually go work on the farm. But, he was a trooper and spent most of the day out there, working and having a grand time. I was surprised when they got back though, Jacob looked older to me somehow.
One of the days me and Grandma took Abby and Jackson out to see the farm. We put them both on the big tractor with Grandpa and sent them off for what I thought would be a quick ride around the field. It turned into a 3 hour work ride, planting wheat! They both did great, with a few bumps on the head from the bouncy tractor. Abby said she didn't like it because it was dirty, and I don't think Jackson really knew what to think!
Grandma taught Abby how to sew a little bit. Abigail absolutely loved it, and made several things to take home. She also had some doughnut baking time with Grandma.
Jackson played trains...of course. He also had fun roaming around and finding all the hidden adventures at Grandma's house!
Jacob played a duet with me for Grandma's piano recital.
Playing at the park.
My college roomie and David's college roomie, now married and still some of our most cherished friends.
It was a great trip, and we're so grateful to everyone who made time to spend with us.. Annalisa and Morgan, Timothy and Gina, J.Paul and Wendy, and especially Grandma and Grandpa. We had a great trip, just what we needed to recharge our batteries.
Going home...the pilot let the kids take a peek in the cockpit.
